Strange sounds from Heaven?

Around the world a strange phenomenon is being reported and recorded. People have begun to hear strange, bone-chilling sounds in the sky. The unexplainable noise echoes in harmonic ebb and flow and many people are calling these sounds the Trumpets of Heaven.

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (I Cor. 15:52).

Some reports have people being overcome with emotion upon hearing these sounds. The foreboding resonance is stirring thoughts of Judgment Day, with some taking this emerging mystery as an omen of a battle about to begin. The Trumpet or horn has long been the sound that charges armies into battle. The shofar is the biblical call to judgment each year at Rosh Hashanah.

The trumpets were first brought to public attention on August 11th, 2011, when a video from Kiev, Ukraine, was uploaded to YouTube. The home video shows the city and the sky, the camera struggling to search for a source of the eerie moans. The trumpets echoed throughout the landscape in a way that suggests their origination is coming from high above the Earth’s surface.

Within a week or so, similar sounds began to be heard throughout Eastern Europe. January 12th, 2012, the sounds were recorded in Chili and on January 19th a newspaper delivery man, William Wilson Smith, Olive Branch, Mississippi, heard what he called a “chorus of trumpets” that seemed to come from every direction. Mr. Smith, an audio engineer, marveled at their preternatural quality and said the noise seems to consist of “6 or 7 frequencies.”

January 22nd another video was posted on YouTube. This one features the mysterious droning in the city of Monchengladbach, Germany. A couple playfully took videos of their dog in their living room. Hearing the sounds, they followed them outdoors. The mysterious phenomenon moved westward into various parts of Canada and the northwestern United States. Canadian lumberjacks and urban residents of Vancouver recorded them, as did citizens in Washington and Oregon.

Recordings came in from Czechoslovakia, Hungary and other European locations, all variations of the original strange trumpet sounds. Those who have heard these strange sounds report they now find themselves wondering about things supernatural. Many were reminded of the Seven Trumpets of Revelation, saying that they had never been so frightened in their lives.

“For I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts. Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground” (Jer. 25:29-33).

This is no ordinary trumpet, as can be seen from a description written by Paul:

“For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first” (I Thess. 4:16).

According to the Book of Revelation chapters 8-11, seven trumpets are sounded to cue apocalyptic events. The seven trumpets are sounded by seven angels. The angles sound these trumpets after breaking the seventh seal. There are seven seals as well, each secured to an apocalyptic scroll.

Upon the first trumpet sound, hail and fire, mixed with blood, is thrown to the Earth. A third of the trees on the planet and all green grass burns. (Revelation 8:7)

The second trumpet cues a great burning mountain that plunges into the sea and wipes out a third of all sea life. A third of the oceans will become blood. (Revelation 8:8-9)

The sound of the third trumpet alerts to a great star called Wormwood, which falls to the Earth poisoning a third of the planet's freshwater. People will die from drinking its bitter taste. (Revelation 8:10-11)

The fourth trumpet announces that a third of the light that shines from the Sun, moon and stars becomes dark due to these celestial bodies becoming "struck". This catastrophe causes complete darkness for a third of the day, even night hours. (Revelation 8:12)

As the fifth trumpet sounds it announces the "first Woe" of three. Before this trumpet sounds however, an angel appears, flying in heaven warning, "Woe, woe, woe, to those who dwell on the earth” because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound! [6]

The fifth trumpet portends a personified star to fall from heaven. The star is given the key to the bottomless pit and upon opening it smoke rises out, the air darkens and blocks the sunlight. From out of the smoke Locusts appear. They were scorpion tailed and have a man's face with lion's teeth. Their hair is long like that of a woman’s' and flew with locust-like wings. They are crowned with golden and protected with iron-like breastplates. (Revelation 9:1-12)

Five months after the fifth trumpet blast, a sixth one sounds.[9] This is the "Second woe". Four angels are released from their binds in the river Euphrates. They command mounted troops whose horses dissipate plague from out of their mouths. The horses had a lion's head and their tails were like a serpent. They are responsible for the deaths of a third of mankind who are stricken by the plague that emanated from these armies. (Revelation 9:13-21)

The sound of the seventh trumpet signals the "Third woe". This is the final trumpet sound and the final woe. Voices in heaven proclaim Christ as ruler. Thanks are given to God. The temple of God in heaven is opened and the Ark of the Covenant appears in His temple. Then lightning and thunder occur followed by an earthquake and a great hailstorm. (Revelation 11:15-19)
