'Strange Moves' brings fresh attitude for The English Language

Last night, San Jose retro-rock trio, The English Language, released a new single; one that is among their best yet.

Clocking in a just under 3 minutes, "Strange Moves," smacks of "Time of the Season" era Zombies, combining an overt smoothness with a leering sense of dark psychedelia. The track has a deliberately slow, smoky vibe, also touching on surf rock ballads, with slide guitar overlaying delay-drenched staccatos.

"Stange Moves" accounts for the third single off the upcoming effort by TEL. "This Is Science / Rock & Roll" is tentatively due out next year.

While the band finishes their new recording two events are scheduled for January, with the first coming at Cafe Stritch (374 South First Street, San Jose, California 95113) on the 4th, where they'll share a bill with local, dark-folk rockers, Cartoon Bar Fight. On the 9th TEL is playing San Jose's newest venue, The Back Bar (418 S Market St, San Jose, Ca 95113); further billing has yet to be announced.
