Netflix Instant Streaming has become a cult following of sorts. Many of us Netflix fan hunt down new and low budget indie films that are not widely popular in mainstream. So when Straight A's came on under Indie Comedies I thought it was worth a watch.
The basic plot is that A rehabilitated addict played Ryan Phillippe falls off the wagon and heads back home at the urging of his mother's ghost, only to fall back in with his brother's wife played by Anna Paquin, who happens to be his first love in this romantic comedy.
The title is a little off-putting as it doesn't make much sense given the storyline. But this storyline is one of those that has a bigger meaning and is meant to be thought about and stick with you even way after seeing the film. When the movie first began the first 45 minutes were quite boring and I almost turned it off but I am glad I did not. The movie had great plot twists after that slow start. The acting was excellent and I especially enjoyed the music.
Good movie and great way to spend an 90 minutes.
