If you haven't visited the Aquarium of Niagara recently, you are missing out on some exciting, inexpensive fun for you and your family.  Children as young as 2 will enjoy what the aquarium has to offer: penguins, sharks, sea lions, and more.  Even more enticing is that the aquarium is easy to navigate if you are a single parent, and is soon offering a storytelling event.

Beginning Saturday, February 6th, the Aquarium of Niagara will be offering their Storytelling Saturday series, sponsored by Target.  Different storytellers will share a few tales with children on Feb. 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th.  Storytellers will appear at 11:30am and 2:45 pm each week.  They include Annemarie Jason, an avid aquarium visitor, Mr. Beau the Clown, Karima Amin, and The Wondermakers, a travelling theater troupe.  The series is included in normal ticket prices.

This June, the aquarium will celebrate its 45th anniversary.  Its history not only includes providing visitors with a fun sea life experience, but educating and researching as well.  It offers shows throughout the day for penguin, tidal pool and shark feedings and also has sea lion shows.  Children will enjoy the sea lion tank which can be viewed on the 1st floor under water, or on the second level looking down into the tank.  The aquarium also boasts a nicely decorated shark area complete with large shark jaws, and shark replicas hanging from the ceiling.

Sometimes a the size of a park or zoo can be overwhelming.  The Aquarium of Niagara is the perfect size for children.  It has two levels, but most exhibits are on the first floor.  Each tank has a ledge surrounding it so that small children can climb up and view it without parents having to carry them.  Believe me, you will appreciate this after only a few minutes.  Moving to the upper level can be done by stairs or their elevator which can fit strollers.  The only part that may seem hard with children is the sea lion viewing area upstairs which does not include seating for the shows.

No matter the age, children will really enjoy your next trip to the aquarium.  You will enjoy the low ticket prices which are $9.50 for adults, $6 for children, and free for ages 3 and under. The aquarium does have a gift section before you leave, but even the items there are reasonable.  Children can enjoy small stuffed animals for under $10.  Parking is free.  The Aquarium of Niagara is currently open from 9am to 5pm daily.  It is located at 701 Whirlpool Street, in Niagara Falls, New York.
