- Cost: FREE! Please bring a new or gently used children's book for admission
Organized by the Storytelling Guild (which brings the Children's Festival to Jacksonville each summer), the event serves as a means of collecting new and used books to be used in literacy programs throughout the Rogue Valley. According to Lona Dillard, a member of the Storytelling Guild, the organization collected and distributed over 9000 books through its programs in 2009. Beneficiaries include the Head Start program, La Clinica, and Kids Unlimited, and more than fifteen others.
Other programs organized by the Storytelling Guild throughout the year include the upcoming Book Walk, the Dial-a-Story program offered through all branches of the Jackson County Library (now available in Spanish), and of course, the Children's Festival.
