Storytelling Guild brings Rumpelstiltskin to Medford's Craterian Theater this weekend

Looking for some fun this weekend?  Bring the whole family to the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford on Sunday, January 17, 2010 for RumpelstiltskinTears of Joy Theater of Portland is staging the production of this classic children's tale of keeping promises, greed, and a mother's undying love.

  • When:  Sunday, January 17, 2010
  • Time:  1:30 PM & 4:00 PM (each show lasts approximately one hour; after the show, the puppeteers host a 15-20 minute question & answer session with the audience)
  • Cost:  FREE!  Please bring a new or gently used children's book for admission

Organized by the Storytelling Guild (which brings the Children's Festival to Jacksonville each summer), the event serves as a means of collecting new and used books to be used in literacy programs throughout the Rogue Valley.  According to Lona Dillard, a member of the Storytelling Guild, the organization collected and distributed over 9000 books through its programs in 2009.  Beneficiaries include the Head Start program, La Clinica, and Kids Unlimited, and more than fifteen others.

Other programs organized by the Storytelling Guild throughout the year include the upcoming Book Walk, the Dial-a-Story program offered through all branches of the Jackson County Library (now available in Spanish), and of course, the Children's Festival.
