Story time at the West Chicago Public Library

Looking forward to getting the toddlers out of the house for an educational opportunity?  West Chicago Public Library offers great activities for the entire family.  It is simple to become a member and receive a library card; just bring in a driver license and a utility bill.  To preview what the library has to offer, please check out this link West Chicago Public Library.

The library's story time is wonderful!   Mother goose time is for infants/ toddlers from birth to 23 months.  The class starts out with an introduction of all the children by playing peek-a-boo, followed by story time and then an activity the little ones are sure to love.  Some recent themes of story time are as follows:

  • Phonological awareness - this give a child the awareness to hear, play and recognize sounds
  • Print awareness - helps children to recognize books and how they work

What is in it for the parents?  Ideas and handouts for reading, bath time, singing, playing with magnets and nursery rhymes to keep your busy toddler engaged.  Developing a toddler is a simple concept, but due to the complicated nature of our daily routines suggestions help bring us to the level necessary to foster growth.

Check out the local library, even if it is not in West Chicago.  Not only are there fun activities for the entire family, but also if one is on a budget and in need of some quiet time the library may be a great escape.
