If you’re a “Believer” or you don’t know anything about God or the Bible; going to see the movie “Noah”, will draw much controversy. There are unknown characters and circumstances that flow throughout the movie, nonetheless, it is a form of entertainment.
The 2014 movie “Noah” DOES NOT follow the Bible, except for a couple of incidents. All-in-all it is an action adventure. Anytime you notice from the TV commercials for the film, that it can be compared to “Gladiator” (starring Russell Crowe) & the “Titanic” (I don’t see any similarity except for a big ship); you shouldn’t expect it to be of Biblical proportions.
The closest thing to the “stone creatures” that appear in the movie, could be compared to Optimus Prime and the Transformers. Luke 19:40 (KJV) “And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out is the closest Biblical reference to these creatures. The movie calls them Nephilims or giants, yet how they maneuver around the desolate earth is interesting – but unscriptural.
It is a known fact that “Noah” director Darren Aronofsky is an admitted atheist. So why get upset with someone who isn’t going to go word-for-word from the Bible. It’s not going to happen. In all movies, cartoons, shows etc. there is always a protagonist and a antagonist. The characters in this story, though not on-point, cover the gambit of good vs. evil, and hopefully good will prevail. OBTW, I was just reminded that the name "God" in not mentioned once in the entire 2 hrs. 12 min.
If God can use a cock to crow, or a donkey to speak, or a snake to talk, or a little child to witness, then He can use Hollywood to bring attention to Godly things. The main question to movies like “Son of God”, “The Passion of the Christ”, “God’s Not Dead”, or the TV version of “The Bible” is, will God get any glory, or will someone come closer to knowing Him as their Redeemer or personal Lord.
