Developer Capcom Vancouver said Dead Rising 3 could have between six and 10 endings, with an overtime mode that explains what’s really happening in the game.
Producer Mike Jones said that the main objective of Dead Rising 3 is to flee Los Perdidos before the U.S. Military nukes the city, but endings could go even beyond that.
“I think typically we’ve always had about somewhere between six and 10, something like that,” Jones said of the Dead Rising series. “There’s a handful of branching points that make a significant difference, and whether you’re able to play beyond the normal timeline or not.”
Previous Dead Rising games, Jones said, would utilize an overtime mode, where gamers could investigate the reason behind the game’s happenings. Similar gameplay will be seen in Dead Rising 3.
“So there’s not just the six days, we’re going beyond that if you make the right story decisions,” Jones said. “So it’s not like choose-your-own-adventure crazy infinite endings, there’s a finite amount, but they all (correspond to) meaningful story decisions that you make as you play through.”
Dead Rising 3 should hit shelves this holiday season.
