Story Contest deadline March 15

Telling Our Stories is an autobiographical story program at Austin College. The deadline for these stories is March 15, with cash prizes totalling $225. Certificates of merit will also be awarded.

The theme for this year's contest is vintage road trips. Cars or trucks are an integral part of our lives and many people have very interesting memories about them or trips they've taken in them, whether it's about a vacation, a family trip, as a tourist, experiences with motels, camping, travel trailer, or motor home. The possibilities are endless.

Austin College is a leading national independent liberal arts college located north of Dallas in Sherman, Texas. Founded in 1849, making it the oldest institution of higher education in Texas operating under original charter and name, the college is related by covenant to the Presbyterian Church (USA). Recognized nationally for academic excellence in the areas of international education, pre-professional training, and leadership studies, Austin College is one of 40 schools profiled in Loren Pope’s influential book Colleges that Change Lives.

Austin College says, "We are looking for stories that record significant incidents in the lives of individuals or reflect cultural patterns. The most interesting stories will be the ones unique to individuals. Poems are not accepted."
