'Stories on Stage' is your chance to get lost in the world of fiction

What are you doing this Sunday? Laundry? Watching a football game? Well, throw that laundry in the machine and set your DVR to record, then head down to the Denver Center to catch one of the best kept secrets in the Denver Theatre scene. I'm talking about Stories on Stage, which is your chance to catch some of the best talent in town reading some of the best new short fiction live on stage. I've caught several of these performances in the past and they are always fantastic. It is a unique form of entertainment - one that is sure to capture your imagination and allow you to get lost in the world of fiction.

Sunday, October 17th Stories on Stage is presenting New Frontiers, three new stories read by three incredible actors. Here is a quick look at what you can expect:

The Life and Times of Thunderbolt Kid, by Bill Bryson

Milk came in bottles, the mailman came by foot and men wore hats; parts of a life in the 1950's that doesn't exist any longer. Affection for the world of his childhood and funny, engaging writing make The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Read by Chip Persons: Chip is an award winning actor that has appeared on stages from Colorado to New York. He was recently seen in the Colorado Shakespeare Festival's Richard III where he was nominated for the Denver Post Ovation award for Best Actor. He's also been seen on Television in shows like Law and Order, Psych, and Return to Paradise Lost.

Too Much Happiness, by Alice Munro
Sophia Kovalevsky, a Russian mathematician, journeys through 19th-century Europe searching for her place in the world.

Read by Jeanne Paulsen: Jeanne is also a well known actor that has credits in both Colorado and New York. She's a favorite of the Denver Center Theatre Company and has recently been seen in such shows as The Voysey Inheritance, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Miracle Worker, and You Can't Take it With You. Jeanne is also a Tony nominated actress for her role in The Kentucky Cycle.

Muscle Memory, by Katherine Karlin

In Muscle Memory, Katherine Karlin has opened a new and heart-felt world, telling how ordinary people are moving on and trying to recover from the devastation of Katrina.

Read by ZZ Moor: ZZ is a student at the National Theatre Conservatory. She's been seen on many Denver stages in shows like For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and Our Town. She's also been seen on Televison in NBC's Tauma, VH1's Soul, and National Geographic. 

So that is a look at the line up for tomorrow's show. Go out and try something different - you'll be captured by these amazing talents reading works of fiction and you'll get lost in these Stories on Stage.
