The Stories of the Sahabah (SOTH) is one of the more religious oriented blogs one can find on Tumblr -- and it is a blog that is growing fast!

Earlier this month blog curator Zohayma, also known as Umm Umar Khaled, announced that SOTH would be launching a monthly magazine centered around the sahaba (or companions of the Prophet Muhammad (s) during his life and prophet-hood). As far as the online Muslim community goes, this magazine would be the first of its kind.

Of the endeavor Umm Umar says on the blog:

[...]we will have an indepth look on the lives of the Companions, history of Islam alongside with the flourishing days of Islamic Art and Architecture, topping it all up with pondering ayat from the Qur’an and the ever wonderful sayings of our beloved Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam.

Picture editor

Usually responsible for the commissioning of the imagery, negotiating prices for the images from the stock sites, commissioning photographers, works closely with art director and ensures that the quality of the photographic material throughout the publication is on high level.

Copy editor

This kind of editor is responsible for acquiring text articles from the outsourced writers, also is responsible for the quality of those texts. Copy editor is writing all the display copy like headlines and kickers.

Proofreaders
Their role is to check all the text materials for correct grammar and spelling. Proofreaders also cut excess copy. They work closely with a copy editor.

Production manager

This is the person that oversees the physical compilation of all the materials by setting a production schedule and makes sure that everyone sticks to it. He is responsible for the communication with the printing-house, he is setting the deadlines for the commission of the text copy, imagery, design, editing deadlines and so on.

Web Manager

This person will be responsible developing the voice for all aspects of the organization’s online presence. He will also be responsible for crafting site promotions, email newsletters, and online outreach campaigns. The content manager will work closely with technical, business development, and marketing members of our organization, so strong communication skills are needed. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing online marketing and outreach campaigns. Tasks require a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
