Sakinah Myeshia Breathwaite, 29, of Chesapeake, died early Friday morning after being shot in the parking lot of The Alley, a popular nightclub located in Hampton’s Newmarket Square Shopping Center.
Hampton Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 2:00 am as patrons were leaving the club. Once they arrived at the scene, Hampton Police & Rescue found Breathwaite suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body. She was later pronounced dead on the scene.
Witnesses say the shooter fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, and may have also been involved in another shooting in the parking lot.
Shortly after the shooting, police pulled over a dark-colored Audi only blocks away from the incident. They arrested 21-year-old Crystal Evita Harrell of Newport News, and charged her with murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The Alley's owner, Barry Davis, was baffled by this senseless act of violence.
"We did not have any disturbance, there was no screaming, yelling, fighting, or anything of that nature," said Davis. "This was a spontaneous act by a person with hate in their heart."
