"There is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention....After a Convention is convened, it will be too late to stop the Convention if we don't like it's agenda." Former Chief Justice Warren Burger

"You wish to know my sentiments on the project of a Convention as suggested by New York. I shall give them to you with great frankness. If a General Convention were to take place for the avowed and sole purpose of revising the Constitution, it would naturally consider itself as having a greater latitude than the Congress appointed to administer and support as well as to amend the system; it would consequently give greater agitation to the public mind; an election into it would courted by the most violent partisans on both sides; it would probably consist of the most heterogeneous characters; would be the very forces of that flame which has already too much heated men of all parties; would no doubt contain individuals of insidious views, who under the mask of seeking alterations popular in some parts but inadmissible in other parts of the Union might have a dangerous opportunity of sapping the very foundations of the fabric." James Madison in a letter to G.L. Turberville on November 2, 1788

"A Constitution of government, once changed from freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." John Adams

It is clear that the Founders feared trivial tinkering with the document they fought, bled, and died to give us. There are too many waiting in the wings like vultures to pick the Constitution clean of rights and liberties. They are ready, willing, and able to swoop in under the guise of a Constitutional Convention. Too many of these would be leaders have forgotten the warnings of our forbears and are ignorant of the dangers a Con-Con poses.

The Yellow Hammer News reported that Senator Ken Johnson introduced legislation in the Alabama House of Representatives in January calling for a Convention of the States (Con-Con). The stated goal being to check federal government spending and mandates. It had 37 co-sponsors as of January 17.

Alabama State Senator Arthur Orr told WHNT News 19's Steve Johnson that;

"I went with another Alabama State Senator to an assembly in Mount Vernon in December, where we convened with 33 other states that attended. And at that meeting we decided and agreed that the most important thing to do first off, is to establish the rules that we conduct, under which we conduct a convention, should a conducted."

The misguided efforts of the Alabama Legislature could result in a re-writing or total replacement of our Constitution. Article V of the Constitution states; "The Congress, whenever two-thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or on application of the Legislatures of two-thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid....when ratified by the Legislatures of three-fourths of the several states...., or by conventions in three-fourths thereof..."

The danger of an Article V Convention lies in the unlimited power it possesses once it is convened. This alone should make conservative minded Alabamians shudder in fear. Especially with the likes of President Obama's globalist puppet master George Soros pumping billions into getting it started. We should all question the Alabama Legislatures eagerness to take part in such a dangerous endeavor.

Nothing in the Constitution governs the procedures of the Constitutional Convention. Once it convenes, it's open season on the U.S. Constitution. There is no way to determine the membership of a Con-Con. Delegate selection could be determined by Congress, liberal minded think tanks, liberal media, and by the deep pockets of those like George Soros.

Once it convenes there is no way to keep other issues like draconian gun control being brought up. These types of "Progressive" issues would be countless. The excuse of it being necessary to balance the budget is ridiculous., The President and Congress refuses to obey the Constitution now; what makes anyone naive enough to believe they'll heed anything new. It's a Pandora's Box that we need to keep closed.

Our 1789 Constitution was meant to be perpetual and irrevocable and tis fact cannot be stressed enough. Any act taken to dislodge it should be seen as heinous. Those who perpetrate such actions are reliant upon an innocent and ignorant populace. The Constitution is a compact and requires the "consent" of the governed to be discarded like mere trash. Silence is seen as consent by those with totalitarian delusions of grandeur.

Remaining silent while misguided politicians in Montgomery or Washington, DC shred our birthright must not be allowed. Preserving freedom requires citizen involvement. The The Declaration of Independence was very precise listing of grievances against a tyrant. The Constitution was their answer and was born out of the blood, sweat, and tears of the Founders. It does their memory a grave injustice to stand idly by as it is trampled underfoot. The current bloated and ever power hungry government isn't broken because of the Constitution but because it is being disobeyed and ignored.

The George Soros connection:

The leftist Move To Amend supports the Article V Convention. It is comprised of:

  • Alliance for Democracy
  • Center for Media and Democracy
  • Code Pink
  • Independent Progressive Politics Network
  • Progressive Democrats of America
  • Sierra Club

Tools for the fight- Arm yourselves with knowledge and get in the trenches while there is still time. Don't allow your birthright to be destroyed. Get involved before you wake up in a world devoid of the rights we all enjoy.
