Stop!
That's the focus of this Saturday's 8th annual Stomp D.A.T. event hosted by the Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. With an emphasis on provide outreach services to young people regarding health awareness and access to higher education in addition to the youth-based step show, this family themed event promises to build upon the success and reach of previous years.
The "D.A.T." the chapter is referring to is encouragement of youth to be drug, alcohol, and tobacco free through interactive exchanges of educational and health resources. As an added bonus, this is the second consecutive year the chapter is having a college fair; doing so provides added access to information regarding post-high school options, and it aligns with one of the larger sorority's national Five Point Program Thrust platform regarding Educational Development.
Of course, the spotlight is on the wide array of elementary, middle, and high school step teams that are participating in the step-show. A total of 13 teams across all grade levels and community-based organizations are participating in the show.
The event starts at 3pm and is taking place at Woodland High School. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For more details, readers are encouraged to contact the chapter at events@hcacdst.org.
Be it during its 8 years as an established chapter and presence in the Henry County community, or the larger centennial celebration of its larger sorority, the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are committed to providing service to the immediate and surrounding community. As the motto clearly and eloquently states, "Intelligence is the Torch of Wisdom".
This Saturday, the Henry County Deltas are sharing such wisdom with a powerful step and stomp.
