It seems like more and more people are starting blogs and building businesses around their passions. A lot of you are really digging in and working hard. It makes me happy to see this, but many of you work well beyond a typical eight hour day, sometimes more than double.
It’s important to remember why we're doing this.
It’s not for money. For most of us, it’s not for fame. It’s for that extra time we get to spend with the one’s we love. Yes, I know there’s not always time after 16 hours of grinding, but there are days when you can say hey I’m taking a break.
On those days you have to stop thinking about your business. If you're spending time with your family, you owe it to them to give your complete attention. Easier said than done sometimes I know, but you have to try.
I lost a very good friend yesterday morning. We grew up together, we got into trouble together, we had disagreements, but more importantly we had a lot of fun. We grew up, had kids and grew apart. We talked every now and then, about life, wives and kids and the end of every discussion was a few simple words “See ya later.”
My last conversation with him ended a little differently than most. He had just moved into a new home, and he asked me to stop by sometime when I had the chance. That was about four months ago.
I never made the time.
We've all lost somebody, some of us know how painful it is to know that you never said goodbye. It’s a terrible pain that never goes away. Don't let this happen, take every chance you’ve got to stop and be with the ones you care about.
Laugh with them, do the things they want to do, love them, but don’t spend that time with them thinking about your business, or the website. You’re cheating them and you’re cheating yourself.
We only live once, it’s important to eliminate as many regrets as possible and trust me every second counts. Don't spend that precious time wasting your energy thinking about something as insignificant as your spot in Google or making a FaceBook post.
It just isn't worth it, so here's a list of things to do.
Do them in order and do them today.
