'Stoning of Soraya M' dedicated to Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, angers Iran

A film portraying the true, real-life stoning of an Iranian woman opened in London Saturday despite intense protest from the Iranian government.

'The Stoning of Soraya M' is the true story of an Iranian woman, Soraya M, framed as an adulterer by her husband in the early years of Ayatollah Khomeini's Iran and stoned to death by her fellow villagers.

The film's director, Cyrus Nowrasteh, dedicated the screening to Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who is currently facing execution by stoning or hanging in Iran for adultery.
Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was arrested in 2006 for adultery and being an accomplice to the murder of her husband.

While the Iranian Embassy claims Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani will not face death by stoning, Amnesty International says her punishment is currently being reviewed and has not been overturned.

Amnesty International UK director Kate Allen:

"The final scenes of The Stoning Of Soraya M are quite horrific and many viewers might want to turn away. I'd urge them not to.

"This is the cruel reality of execution by stoning; watch, be enraged, and take action to stop this inhumane practice.

"The case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani has been taken up by people all over the world, who have protested and written letters to the Iranian authorities urging them to stop her execution by any method.

"We have to keep this pressure up and make it clear to Iran's leaders that killing Sakineh would cause a global outrage.

"Stonings are thankfully rare in Iran but they represent the ugly tip of a very large iceberg.

"At least 190 people have already been executed this year in Iran, mostly by hanging and after unfair trials.

"Amnesty opposes the death penalty regardless of the method of execution.

"We are calling on the Iranian authorities to stop this execution, stop the use of stoning altogether and stop criminalising the sex lives of consenting adults."

The Iranians are applying their Islamic Sharia law and following exactly what their profit Muhammad did before, when He ordered his men to tie a woman committed adultery with her clothes and stoned her to death.

According to the Islamic teaching in the Hadith of Sahih Muslim Book 017, Number 4207, as it says:
Imran b. Husain reported that a woman from Juhaina came to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) and she had become pregnant because of adultery. She said: Allah's Apostle, I have done something for which (prescribed punishment) must be imposed upon me, so impose that. Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) called her master and said: Treat her well, and when she delivers bring her to me. He did accordingly. Then Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) pronounced judgment about her and her clothes were tied around her and then he commanded and she was stoned to death.

So, the problem is with the Religious teachings and it will remain unsolved in those Muslim Countries that apply the Islamic Sharia Laws.

Only a gobal outrage will stop evil from hiding behind a mask of religion.

I agree religion is being used as a mask for these people to act out their sicknesses and gain power! This is a human rights issue and should be tried before the world's jury!
