Special Rate has recently been relocated to Sue Dowling’s Stoneview Farm, Hempstead, Texas. He is ranked among the ten top stallions in Texas. Special Rate will be standing at stud for Stoneview Farm during the 2014 breeding season.
Previously, Special Rate stood at Key Ranch, Salado, Texas for Joe and Sharon Kerby. He has been at Key Ranch since 2006.
Owned by a syndicate, Special Rate was sired by Pulpit out of stakewinning Viviana by Nureyev. He was a stakes winner during his racing career. He is a half brother to Grade I victors Tates Creek and also Sightseek.
Perhaps his best and leading runner at the current time is the multiple stakes winner Patty’s Pride who has earned well over $250,000.
Dowling said in a press release,

Special Rate’s 2014 breeding fee has been set at $3,000 [stands and nurses].
