Stonehill defeats Dolphins 84-82, Dolphins redeem themselves at Franklin Pierce

The Stonehill Skyhawks upset the Le Moyne Dolphins men's basketball team in overtime 84-82 with a 33 foot turnaround three by junior forward Patrick Lee (Fayetteville, NY/F-M) for Stonehill in NE-10 action January 25, 2011 at Ted Grant Court. The shot preceded by a second half rally led by Brian Hamor (Guilderland, NY/ Bishop Gibbons) with 15 points, all scored after halftime.

For Le Moyne, Kevin Roth (Lakeview, NY/St. Francis H.S.) with 22 points, six rebounds, and six steals. Can Ozkaner, (Ankara, Turkey, Tilton School (N.H.)) senior swingman for Le Moyne, with 14 second half points, along with five rebounds, five assists. Ozkaner would foul out with 1:30 left in the game.

Both star players struggle in vain as Stonehill defeats Le Moyne at home with a 33 foot buzzer-beater in OT. This following another three by sophomore Brian Hamor for Stonehill from 30 feet out with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation, forcing the overtime. However, on Saturday January 29, 2011 at FPU Fieldhouse, Le Moyne has a chance at redemption.

Kevin Roth, senior forward for Le Moyne, bounds and astounds his way to his seventh double-double of the season to lead the Dolhins in scoring. Roth hits a game high18 points, 10 of which after the half, and 10 rebounds. Also, junior guard Chris Johnson (Lindenhurst, NY/ Lindenhurst) with 13 points, nine of which scored after the intermission to join Roth's 10 in a second half rally bringing Le Moyne to a 65-50 shut out win over Franklin Pierce (http://www.lemoynedolphins.com/sports/mbkb/2010-11/releases/20110129_mbb...).

The Franklin Pierce Ravens fall to 5-15 overall and 3-12 in Northeast-10 Conference play as Le Moyne improves to 9-10 and 7-8 in the NE-10.

Franklin Pierce not making it easy for the Dolphins, at least not in the first half, only trailing Le Moyne by two at halftime. However, in the second half the Ravens struggled shooting from the field, only connecting on 7 out of 33. This resulting in an unimpressive 21 percent Ravens field goal percentage for the half while the Dolphins sink 15 of 25, shooting extremely well at 60 percent from the field (http://athletics.franklinpierce.edu/sports/mbkb/2010-11/releases/012911M...).

The Ravens held on until about 10:00 left in the game, when Le Moyne recorded an 11-0 run with contributions from Chris Johnson from downtown, and Roth and Ozkaner parlayed in the paint to earn a 56-41 lead that the Dolphins would hold on to. The Dolphins win their fifth straight road game with the victory over Stonehill.
