TMZ caught up with Scott Weiland on March 1 to find out that Stone Temple Pilots lied about the break-up just to boost ticket sales for an upcoming tour. Weiland told the reporter that the band is still “100% together.” Detroit Examiner first reported on Feb. 27 that Scott Weiland was fired from his own band, Stone Temple Pilots.
After watching the video on TMZ website it seems like Scott and the rest of the band don’t really have an open line of communication. Just a few days ago he was shocked to find out he had been fired and retaliated with “You can’t fire me, it’s my band!” Scott says the bandmates used the firing as a publicity stunt and without him the band ceases to exist.
At the end of the day Weiland doesn’t seem to know what the other bandmates were thinking about their stunt, but when TMZ asked if he was still going to lead the band after this, “he replied smugly, ‘I started it.’”
