The Able Fine Art Gallery in Chelsea will soon feature a solo exhibition of works by ChaeHyun Oh in a show titled Rumination. For this show, the artist unveils small figures carved from granite stone. The figures depict symbolic characters including a smiling Buddha, and a series of animals. One of the animals the artist honors is the tiger and one of his pieces depicts a three of them--two standing across from each other and one sitting on top of one of the standing ones as all three stare at the viewer with wide grins. ChaeHyun Oh also pays homage to the bird with two granite figures; one shows a bird with only half of its body shown as though just being born, while the other shows the fully developed creature. At The Able Fine Art Gallery, 511 W. 25th St. #607, through Sept. 17. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, Sept. 5th from 6-8 p.m.
