Did you watch Stomp the Yard and secretly wish you could do the body rhythmic percussive step dancing like the actors did in the film? Or maybe you've stepped before, haven't in awhile and would love to get back into it. Well, now's your chance. The California African American Museum is hosting a Steppin' workshop on Saturday, April 24th at 1:00PM.

As noted on the museum's website, you will have the opportunity to "participate in a historical re-enactment of the evolution of African and African American stomp-and-kick dancing using the same kinetic polyrhythms that influenced many of John T. Scott's sculptures."

John T. Scott (1940-2007) was an acclaimed contemporary artist whose work was heavily influenced by African and Caribbean traditions. The museum is currently housing an exhibit of Mr. Scott's work, available for viewing through September 12th, 2010.

Wear athletic footwear this weekend! Diarra Kilpatrick will lead the workshop. In order to attend, please RSVP via (213) 744-2024.

The California African American Museum is located at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles 90037.
