On Tuesday, a New Jersey family was burglarized and someone made off with more than replaceable household items, reported Friday's NBC New York News.
In addition to jewelry and pricey electronics, the thief snatched the family's much-loved schnauzer-poodle, named "Pepper." The loss of the beloved family companion shattered Pepper's guardian, Barbara August, who told NBC New York:
I'm devastated -- I keep thinking I'm seeing her,"
"They could have locked her in the bathroom, locked her in her crate, and done whatever they wanted, but why did they have to take my dog -- she's my baby.
August received good news on Friday morning when little Pepper was safely returned.
Following the National Dog News Examiner's efforts to obtain more information about the stolen dog, the following reply was received from the family's contact email address:
Amazingly, Pepper was brought into our vet not 20 minutes ago and has been reunited with her family. She seems to be in good health and good spirits.
Thank you so much for reaching out. We have been so touched by the amazing people in our community who have offered sympathy and assistance during this time!!
