On July 29, a senior Yorkshire terrier was stolen during an armed robbery in Hollywood, Fla. The nine-year-old dog, named "India," belongs to Damica Clark, who shortly after the dog-napping, told NBC Miami that she hoped whoever took her:

“isn’t abusing her and treats her well. She’s really sick right now.”

Days later, on August 1, India was found running along the Dixie Highway Corridor, reported the Sun-Sentinel, but Clark's hopes for the little dog's safety were not realized.

During India's time away, she was seriously wounded - a veterinary exam revealed several broken teeth, hemorrhaging in her eye and abrasions on her body.

Following the devastating theft and abuse, Clark is struggling to be able to pay for the veterinary expenses that her dog needs to recovery. She pleaded for help:

Please, I'm begging anyone to help her get better. No donation is too small. You can contact her vet at the Just Paws Animal Hospital at 11210 Pines Blvd.
Pembroke Pines, FL 33026 (954)392-4567, and tell them you'd like to make a
donation to India the Yorkie.

She despairingly added:

I’m unsure if she has any internal bleeding or problems because I cannot afford any more testing or the treatment.

India is fortunate to be alive, but the injuries that she incurred during her time away from her guardian has taken a toll. Anyone who would like to help this little dog, and her struggling guardian, is asked to make a donation directly to the veterinary hospital or to the YouCaring fundraising site which has been established - click here.
