Stolen "cookie" recovered, Cookie Monster innocent. It might seem like a strange headline, but that's what happens when an oversize cookie sculpture gets stolen by someone impersonating the beloved "Sesame Street" character. Police in Germany found the missing sculpture on Feb. 4, 2013, according to Seattle PI. The suspect is still at large.
The stolen cookie recovered earlier this week is no ordinary sweet treat. It weighs approximately 44 pounds, and it's a century old. It was taken from outside a bakery company office in Hannover, Germany and reappeared hanging from the neck of an outdoor horse sculpture at a university.
Before the stolen cookie was recovered, the suspect sent photos of the sculpture to a local newspaper. A man or woman dressed like the Cookie Monster was holding the giant cookie in the photo. A demand for cookies to be sent to a local children's hospital was sent to the same newspaper. Fortunately the bakery has their 100-year-old cookie back, but there's no word on whether the children's hospital ever got their cookies.
