Stitch N' Pitch: Needle arts and baseball at AT&T Park

The National Needle- Arts Association, (TNNA), teamed up with the San Francisco Giants for Stitch 'n Pitch, this evening, (August 1st), at AT&T Park.

What is Stitch n' Pitch?  It was a fun filled evening of knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery and any other needle arts crafts, at a major league baseball game.  All over the nation needle arts enthusiasts have gathered at their cities baseball parks for this event. The Stitch n' Pitch crafters attending got to enjoy their own seating section, received a free Giants project/tote bag, and engaged in social crafting all to the backdrop of a baseball game. Unfortunately, the Giants were unable to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks this evening; however, that did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the crafty fans in attendance.

The Stitch n' Pitch section seemed to have representatives from all the possible needle arts participating in tonight's game.  It was a spectacular sight and a great opportunity to talk "shop" with other crafty people from all over the Bay Area. AT&T Park was filled to capacity this evening, due in large part to the Stitch n' Pitch group.

Stitch n' Pitch is not only a fun time of social needle crafting and baseball, although it definitely was, it is also about charity. Stitch n' Pitch and the Needle Arts Mentor Program, (NAMP), have combined forces to raise awareness and funds.  NAMP is a project of the Helping Hands Foundation, which offers knitters and other needle arts crafters the resources to become needle arts mentors and teach kids their craft.  The program provides free supplies and instructional information to interested needle artists so they can start a mentoring program in their own communities. This event helps raise awareness and support for NAMP and the great work they are doing.

The event tonight was a fun filled evening which combined two great traditions, needle arts and baseball. Hope to see you at next year's game.
