While the offers are not as plentiful as in 2011 in the midst of the recession, there are still a few weeks left to take advantage of some excellent resort packages in Scottsdale. The Gainey Suites Hotel and Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center are two high-rated resorts in Scottsdale offering summer deals.
While you may hear “Can you believe it was still 102 degrees last night?” from a tourist at the pool, Arizona can still offer an enjoyable summer experience. Most come to Arizona to experience the modern rooms, restaurants and spas, and those are readily available during the summer, and at a fraction of the normal rates.
TripAdvisor rates Gainey Suites Hotel as the #2 of 78 hotels in Scottsdale. It offers large, refurbished studios or one-bedroom suites and kitchens. The patio rooms have private, shaded lounges, looking out onto the beautifully landscaped courtyard and pool. Especially attractive are the daily free full breakfast and happy hour. Peter, the manager, and his staff are friendly and responsive.
Gainey’s Summer Suite Spot package starts at $89/night. This includes a 20% discount at Gainey Village Spa, and two teddy bears to take home. There are no “resort fees,” but there is a $25/night deposit for “incidentals” upon check-in, which will be refunded if no room charges are made.
One should definitely make reservations for the Sunday brunch at the Palm Court Restaurant. It remains one of the best brunches in Arizona. It may not get the visibility of others because it is on the third floor of the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. But you do not have to be a businessperson to enjoy it. It includes the traditional omelets, salad selections, and breakfast items. But it also offers a seafood selection, including lox, shrimp, and smoked trout; delicious to-order-crepes; plus choice of champagne, juice or coffee. Then there are the friendly service and beautiful views of the golf course.
The Scottsdale Resort also offers several summer specials, e.g., “Stay Scottsdale, Play Scottsdale” where a $50 food & beverage credit comes with the $89-99/night room. There is a $20/night resort fee at this resort.
These hotels appeal to Arizonans looking for a fun and convenient staycation, as well as out-of-towners. Both hotels provide great access to Scottsdale’s array of shopping, golf and culture. Yes, Arizona is hot, but so are the great deals one can get until Labor Day.
