He appeared comfortable in the smallish wooden chair as if it were an old recliner in his own living room. Bob Bobulinski fits nicely as Santa and for much of his adult life moves easily in a world where he and wife Alicia seamlessly and selflessly help hundreds of people in the Hampton Roads Area.
This particular venue was “Frankie’s Ribs” in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach on the last Saturday before Christmas 2013 and Bobulinski and his small cadre of volunteers were busy taking pictures and handing out gifts for families – an annual philanthropic event for “Making a Difference Foundation”. (“MADF”)
“We are just blessed and lucky”, said Alicia Bobulinski, “to be able to help families and bring smiles to these little children. We have been doing it for the last 18 years.”
Also contributing were Walgreen’s who administered flu shots and “Frankie’s Ribs” which provided the venue, food and drink for all of the participants and volunteers.
“Making a Difference” was founded locally in 1991 and has always led grass-roots organizing and delivering on issues of education, job training and preparation, health issues of the impoverished and a plethora of other issues afflicting those in need.
“MADF” will bring more of that magical holiday spirit today, by driving around to various constituents who lack means of transportation and on Tuesday December 24 (10:00 – 12:00 pm), they will grace the Eastern Shore at “Little Hands Little Feet” for more exchanges of gifts for smiles.
