The choice should be clear.
As we rapidly approach the midterm elections, what should be clear by now is the stark differences between Republican Michael Grimm and the Democrat Michael McMahon, both vying for the seat covering NY’s 13th district.
On all fronts, including character, Grimm has consistently risen above the classless tactics and failed policy decisions of the incumbent, Michael McMahon.
Dirty Tricks
Mike McMahon is all tricks and no treat.
In September, McMahon attempted to falsely link Michael Grimm to Dept. of Ed. (DOE) deputy Kathleen Grimm over cutting school bus service for 7 and 8th grade Staten Island students.
There is no relation between Kathleen Grimm of the DOE and Michael Grimm. In a McMahon mailing paid for by the Democrats, the Grimm name was liberally utilized in recounting the decision to cut the bus service.
Rep. Mike McMahon defended the tactic claiming, “Since someone named Grimm made the decision, criticism should be directed at her, by name, and not Mayor Bloomberg or Schools Chancellor Joel Klein.”
However, Mike McMahon’s official letter to the DOE complaining about the cuts only named Chancellor Klein and the letter was copied to Mayor Bloomberg, never did he mention Kathleen Grimm in that missive.
Another example of Mr. McMahon’s deceptive character is found in another mailing trying to trick the folks, again, by falsely linking Grimm to British Petroleum (BP).
The McMahon mailing pairs Grimm with an oil-soaked Louisiana waterfowl and reads: "While BP pumped oil into the Gulf, Big Oil pumped cash into Michael Grimm." The mailing also included a logo similar to BP’s logo.
The truth of the matter is Grimm has nothing to do with BP and received contributions from a clean-energy distributor that purchases bio-fuel from Austin Fuel, a Texas-based green company.
McMahon also disgraced himself by lying about a Grimm pledge to give tax breaks for oil companies.
The fact of the matter is Grimm’s September pledge was a pledge to not raise taxes when he gets to Congress and had nothing to do with the American Tax Reform Pledge sent to Congress in July urging members to cut taxes for oil companies.
The dirty tricks didn’t end there and devolved into the unthinkable.
The Staten Island Advance revealed a lowdown maneuver by Rep. McMahon during a debate:
Just before their dramatic debate at Wagner College Tuesday night, there was high drama unfolding in the audience: The sudden presence of Grimm's former wife in a front-row seat, courtesy of the McMahon campaign. Also brought in was Grimm's former father-in-law and two of his former brothers-in-law.
Grimm never broke a sweat and remained a class act. Mike Grimm had this to say when asked about the surprise appearance of his ex-wife and former in-laws, "She looked as beautiful as the day I met her, it was a pleasure to see them."
On the Issues
- WhenMcMahon was a New York City council member he voted to raise property taxes 18.5%, the largest in the city’s history
- He supported a congestion pricing scheme that would have levied an additional toll on all vehicles traveling to Manhattan below 96th St.
- McMahon voted with Nancy Pelosi to stop a middle class tax cut.
Any wonder why McMahon is dubbed Tax Hike Mike ?
McMahon voted against Obamacare but gave a wink and nod to Pelosi’s shenanigans over the “Deem and Pass” maneuver intended to ram the bill down the throats of the American people.
Grimm is calling to repeal Obamacare while McMahon is not.
Still undecided if you should vote for Grimm or McMahon?
The choice is clear if you are concerned about the economy, healthcare, jobs and installing a trustworthy representative in Congress.
