Still a Stormy Pattern, But Remains Mild

Tuesday was an overcast, dreary, wet, and foggy day across the region with the heaviest rain falling the further east you were across South Jersey(I know firsthand as I drove from Toms River to Somers Point this afternoon!). Officially at Philly International(yes, I know how to spell out Philadelphia, but who ACTUALLY says that?)the high temperature this afternoon was 51 and our low will be achieved at 11:59 this evening(since it was 46 at 6:40 in the morning, but temperatures will cool a tick or two lower before Midnight with some patchy fog).

So I quickly just mentioned some patchy fog overnight on Tuesday and that's simply because you have a moist surface from the rain today, the dewpoints are within a couple of degrees of the actual air temperature, and you have a calm wind; that allows for the fog to form(well, technically the air is stable and hence there's a lot of subsidence...sinking air). This will burn off after the morning commute and we'll have sunshine up until the early afternoon when clouds will roll in ahead of another front(that will be dry as it comes through). Highs will be around 50 with a light west wind.

That front pushes through, BUT a wave of low pressure rides along it just offshore so Wednesday night into Thursday there will be some clouds and even some rain/snow showers to the east with lows flirting with the freezing mark. Thursday itself will feature sunshine in the afternoon with highs in the upper 40s. Ditto for Friday, but the reverse happens with sunshine TO clouds in the afternoon in advance of another system(a cold front).

Friday evening into Saturday morning we'll have rain with temperatures falling through the 40s and then during midday as the front pushes through with colder air filtering in we can see some snow showers on the back end(with little accumulation). Sunday will be cold with highs in the upper 30s, but then we warm back up for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with temperatures in the middle 40s behind the front(weird, huh?).

So we get a day of sunshine and then a day of clouds and/or rain(or snow); You can check out the rest of the seven day forecast (any time) at
