Once again Stile Antico, the ensemble of young British a cappella singers, is returning to North America for a tour of approximately one week in April. Their last April visit presented a seasonal program entitled Passion and Resurrection: A musical journey through Holy Week. This year’s tour will support the release of their latest harmonia mundi CD, Tune thy Musicke to thy Hart: Tudor & Jacobean music for private devotion, which becomes available on February 14. These are compositions of sacred music written not for church performance but to be sung at court or in the home. The CD offers fifteen selections by the composers Thomas Tomkins, John Amner, John Taverner, Robert Ramsey, Thomas Tallis, Robert Parsons, John Browne, Giovanni Croce, John Dowland, Thomas Campion, William Byrd, and Orlando Gibbons. Instrumental accompaniment is provided by the viol consort Fretwork, which will be making its Carnegie Hall debut on February 8 at 7:30 PM in the Weill Recital Hall.
