The Art and Music Concert Series returns again this year at LACMA. The award-winning Art and Music series presents world-renowned performers and composers celebrating the museum's exhibitions.
Announced so far for the series are The Ballet "Caravaggio" with Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company, Choreographer Matteo Levaggi, Balletto Teatro di Torino on February 6, An Afternoon with Composers Stewart Copeland & Michael Gordon and Steve Reich & Friends on May 7th.
In conjunction with Bodies and Shadows: Caravaggio and His Legacy, LACMA’s Art & Music concert series presents a musical-and-ballet celebration of the great Italian master. The evening begins with a performance by Baroque instrumentalists in the exhibition galleries, followed by the U.S. premiere of Caravaggio, a ballet composed by Giovanni Sollima, choreographed by Matteo Levaggi, and performed by members of the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company, in the Bing Theater.

Composers Stewart Copeland, founding member of The Police, and Michael Gordon, cofounder of the Bang on the Can Festival, will discuss their operas The Tell-Tale Heart and Van Gogh with Andreas Mitisek, artistic and general director of the Long Beach Opera. Members of the Long Beach Opera will perform excerpts from both works.

In celebration of James Turrell: A Retrospective, Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Steve Reich comes to LACMA for an evening of performances devoted to his music by the Lyris String Quartet, pianists Vicki Ray and Joanne Pearce Martin, and a percussion ensemble led by CalArts’ David Johnson.
