Action movie star Steven Seagal announced Saturday that he was considering a run for Governor of Arizona. Seagal made the announcement during a press conference about his new reality series "Steven Seagal-Lawman: Maricopa County."

Maricopa County, AZ is infamous for having the "worlds toughest sheriff" Joe Arpaio, whose methods in dealing with prisoners has long been criticized as harsh and borderline cruel and unusual punishment. Arpaio is also mired in controversy over his views on illegal aliens and stop and frisk procedures without probable cause.

Seagal is one of more than 3,000 unpaid members of "Arpaios Posse" a group of civilians who help patrol and "control" crime in the city.

A martial arts expert with a discipline in Akido, Seagal has been deputized in New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana and has had several reality shows following him around during his on-duty hours.

With over 40 movies to his credit as well as several albums featuring Seagal playing bass guitar and singing, the A-List star has kept himself in the public eye.

Seagal would reportedly have the support of Sheriff Arpaio and has publicly stated that he is interested in increasing border security, something Arpaio has long lobbied for.

Besides having a successful actor, musician and reality star Seagal has long been an advocate of helping those less fortunate providing medicine, food and helping animals in need.
