Steve Young tops Sunday's concerts

Country, Americana, and folk singer and songwriter Steve Young heads the Central Iowa concert calendar for Sunday, July 20. Young is the man who wrote and recorded "Seven Bridges Road" (featured music) long before it was made famous by the Eagles and covered again later by Joan Baez, Rita Coolidge, Iain Matthews, Ricochet, and, most recently, Dolly Parton. Young also wrote and recorded "Lonesome, Orn'ry & Mean", which Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, Dierks Bentley, Henry Rollins and Shooter Jennings all covered later, and "Montgomery In the Rain", which was covered by Hank Williams, Jr. Young has recorded fourteen solo albums, as well as performing in the psychedelic country band Stone Country. He is considered one of the pioneers of the Outlaw Country subgenre and was featured in the 1975 Outlaw Country documentary Heartworn Highways. Young's latest album, the live Stories Round the Horseshoe Bend, came out in 2007. He has performed all over the world, including shows across Europe, East Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, China, and Mongolia.
