Steve Welch talks about SeaWorld Orlando entertainment for Sea of Surprises

What does it take to put together special shows for a 50th anniversary celebration? What's it like to plan the entertainment for the ceremony that kicks off that celebration? Find out directly from SeaWorld Orlando Creative Director Steve Welch, who chats about developing two fun new mobile shows and making sure that the March 21 kickoff event was a stunner.

Guests who came out on March 21 were greeting by a long line of performers from various SeaWorld Orlando shows on walkway filled with bubbles. They also met some of the park's animal ambassadors, had a chance to grab a photo with Shamu, and got prizes from the colorful Surprise Squad. The Squad will be on hand for the next 18 months, randomly giving out goodies (and even trips) to guests.

The park features two new shows, Bubble Blowout and Splash Dance, which will take place out among the guests rather than inside theaters. Splash Dance does have one thing in common with the signature One Ocean orca show: spectators might just get wet!

If you'd like to learn more about the animal ambassadors who will be out daily in the Sea Garden, go here. To see the whole opening ceremony, go to this article.
