Steve Roman dominated Motorama 2013

Steve Roman is a regular competitor on the AMSOIL Arenacross tour but when the series headed to Little Rock Steve chose to stay a little closer to home by attending the indoor races and speed show at the 35th annual Motorama at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex. As it turned out it was a wise decision.

For his first visit to this historic event Steve was amazed at the crowd turn out and their enthusiasm for all the racing they witnessed. He even mentioned in a victory interview that the crowd was larger than any other indoor race he attended so far this year. He also mentioned that he felt there was more room on the track then at an AMSOIL AX race track. However it might only have seemed that way because when he got into the lead he rarely had anyone challenging him for that position.

The first race Steve Roman had to contest was the 25+ A class. This race was his least challenging but not due to lack of talented riders because some of the same racers who challenged him in this class were in his 250 and Open A races. He just seemed to take charge of the 25+ A class early and with less lap traffic was able to use his fast lines all the way to the checkers.

The victory that brought Steve the most pride was the Open A race late Saturday night. A lot of the crowd had already left after a long day of Motorama but the true arenacross fans were still there. A majority of those fans were anxious to see if Steve could continue his winning streak on the bigger bike. After all Roman has been spending most of his racing time this winter on the smaller 250 and now had to manage the excessive power of the 450 in the small confines of the Motorama arena. To the approval of the Motorama fans Steve Roman handled the extra horse power as well as handling the stiff competition of the Open A class by winning the last expert race of the evening.

Then on Sunday Steve had to get an early start on his winning because the Motorama schedule started at 8:00 am on Sunday morning. After an uneventful morning of qualifying Roman continued his winning streak by winning all three of his classing on Sunday just as he did on Saturday night. However Steve did not completely shut out his competition. There was a three lap dash-for-cash race on Sunday afternoon that Steve did not win. That win, as well as the $300.00, went to another PA rider. That rider is Lebanon Pennsylvania's Lowell Spangler. Lowell was able to holeshot over Steve Roman and the rest of the dash-for-cash racers and hold on to the lead for all three laps. Luckily for Roman, Spangler was unable to pull another start like that in any of the expert main events. If he would have it might not of been as easy for Steve to win every main event he entered.
