With his team in desperate need for a win, Flyers head coach Craig Berube turns to his No. 1 goaltender tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.
After sitting out yesterday’s 5-2 loss to the Bruins, Steve Mason gets the call for the Flyers. The 25-year-old is coming off one of his more frustrating losses of the season on Thursday night as he stood tall against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He allowed just two goals on 27 shots but the Flyers couldn’t score and dropped their third-straight game.
“Guys were working hard, just couldn’t find the back of the net,” Mason said following Thursday’s loss. “These are big games and we’ve got to find ways to win them.”
Everyone, including the Flyers, know they need to start securing points in a hurry. It is not a good time for the Flyers to plateau as a team.
“You’re aware of all the standings right now it’s so tight,” said Mason. “Every game is a must win just because you’re not getting points, other teams are, and you’re sitting idle.”
The Flyers aren’t idle tonight and have a perfect opportunity to get back in the win column. The game starts at 7:30 pm and the orange and black need to be ready to go from the beginning.
