Today BroadwayGlobal announced Steve Marshall is "Official Artist" for The 2nd Annual BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Award. Theatre Chat shares the exclusive first look at the new award, a "one of a kind" breathtaking painting that completes the puzzle for awards, art for creating arts. Steve Marshall is an award winning entertainer, one of the most unique painters on the planet. The only American artist to be chosen from 73 global artists for Tokyo Japan's famous 2008 Cow Parade.
Mr. Marshall's painting completes the puzzle for awards. BroadwayGlobal is happy to announce that award winning Steve Marshall has created the "Official Art", Steve's painting will honor this years winner for The 2nd Annual BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year, at an exclusive presentation this Decmeber 2013. The painting will be presented by last years winner Jordan Scott Gilbert, Broadway youngest Producer and co-producer of "Ghost". The entire list of those nominated are shared in this article, but only one of those names listed will be honored with the "one of a kind" art, created specifically for the awards. You may be asking yourself, why one more award?
Pictured is BroadwayGlobal's dear friend Emmy Award Casting Director Jeff Greenberg (Modern Family, Cheers), an Oscar, a Tony Award and the newley created BroadwayGlobal Award. Casting is just one part of the puzzle, a Tony Award, Emmy or Oscar are parts of the puzzle of those who create various levels of art. The 2nd Annual BroadwayGlobal Producer Award needed to complete the puzzle, and award winning Steve Marshalls' painting does just that.
The BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Award puts the most important piece to a finished puzzle, the Producer! This "one of a kind" award, "art for arts" is the piece of the puzzle that was missing. If we want new, up and coming Producers to create art for the stage, we have to acknowledge those who are giving back to our society. We must honor those Producers that make themselves accesible for new works, and the needs of our society. These elements are the important keys to that finished puzzle. The BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Award will be presented December 2013. To attend Entertainment Media must RSVP by November 20, 2013 to Richard Cameron by email email@example.com.
The newly created award for The 2nd Annual BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year, is shared in pictures with 2012 BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Jordan Scott Gilbert. Gilbert, who co-produced Broadway's "Ghost" will present this years winner with the "one of a kind" art created by Steve Marshall. "We were looking for an artist who could create "The BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Award", art for creating arts! Staying with our own mission of helping others who create art, plays or live stage productions. BroadwayGlobal's mission is to represents those with very little funding, but who also give back to the needs of our society. Just last year we found one of America's youngest producers Colt Chambers. The need in arts is to find and celebrate the final puzzle piece, new up coming producers.
The 2013 BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year has given back to Cancer, AIDS, Arts and Education. Magician and painter Steve Marshall himself was caught in Japan after a tragic Earthquake. As you all know in crisis, artists jobs are the first to go, but Steve donated his time entertaining and raising funds for those in need. Isn't it ironic the BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Award created from twine and elements of the torn Earth of Japan, have created art for those who give us arts?
BroadwayGlobal connections of those producing art at a Broadway level are being recognized because they are the individuals who can open doors to those with little funding, but have written, produced or created new art that can change our society. The award and painting of a puzzle inspires us like the story of stone soup. If we all come together, giving what we can, we can create soup or food for all. Arts are like food, they inspire us like breath, bringing our globe closer together. Arts are the international language. This award and painting created from the torn earth of Japan is BroadwayGlobal's mission.
My partner multi-award winning director/choreographer Ron Hutchins has written a show around Sammy Davis Jr. by using the music that Sammy was known for, and made famous. The show is called "Once in a Lifetime from Harlem to Hollywood" which sold out in South Florida. What we realized is this, even with our global connections producing a musical about an iconic entertainer was a very difficult task. Imagine the playwright without our connections, the stories are out there, but the door to new works must be kept open. BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year is given to those allowing the door to stay open.
The need to award current Broadway Producers who keep themselves accessible through Social Media ie Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter.. are now being recognized by their peers, with The BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year. Through Theatre Chat's 30 City/State facebook groups and 180,000 shared articles, we presented voting through Social Media. We posted request for recommendations for The Broadway Global Producer of the Year, everyone is invited to submit every year! We even included regional or local level for producers, as they are the future of Broadway, or up and coming new global productions.
Again, we did this through Social Media, so anyone can be included every year. If you read through the list of nominations below, you can see, all of these talents bring arts to our society at different levels. They are all winners. They win for keeping the door open for new up and coming artists. But, just one of the names below will be honored as The 2013 BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year this December 2013. The "one of a kind" painting art for arts, created by award winning Steve Marshall completes this BroadwayGlobal puzzle.
The nominees that were shared through Social Media were: Debbie Allen, Dale Badway, Ken Davenport, Barbara Freitag, Jordan Scott Gilbert (2012 BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year - co-producer of Broadway's Ghost), Dennis Grimaldi, Roger Gindi, Steve Hendel, Andrew Kato, Tom Kirday, Stewart F. Lane, Charlotte St. Martin, Cathy Rigby McCoy, Tom McCoy, Annette Niemtzow, Will Prather, Michael Rosenberg, Jordan Roth, Scott Sanders, Andre Robin de Sheilds, Tom Viola, Robert Wankel, Oprah Winfrey. All of these Producers at varied levels are winners, but we must acknowledge at least one a year, if we are entice new Producers to develop arts.
For these producers and artists to stay accessible on Social Media is no easy task. Some are dealing with multiple productions, and running multiple theatres. But, remember without access to upcoming playwrights and new works, the future for Broadway productions would be limited to global film companies. The huge movie industry is hard to compete with. The hit films already have a fan base and some producers only look at the money that can be made, not at the art they are creating. With only 40 Broadway theatres this does not leave the door open to many new artists, playwrights or new works.
Naming Steve Marshall as "The Official BroadwayGlobal Artist" is as magical as being a global magician. Yes, Steve is a professional American magician living in Japan, who just happens to create paintings by using twine, and puzzle pieces from the earth. Just like a Broadway producer who puts the puzzle together, so does this magician. Steve even uses real money, with highlights coming from painted gold leaf. Broadway producers use monies to create art, so what better award than a painting using all of the pieces of the puzzle. The award is magical, a painting created by an entertainer, using elements from the earth to create art. Art for creating arts! This was exactly what BroadwayGlobal was looking for.
The 2012 BroadwayGlobal Prodcuer of the Year Jordan Scott Gilbert, who co-produced "Ghost" will honor this years winner. The one of a kind BroadwayGlobal Producer of the Year Award is made with the same basic elements, but each one is very unique and different. Each BroadwayGloabl award will not be exactly the same, because the elements are different to build it. The initial design, pictured in the slideshow still embraces arts by using the globe and puzzle pieces. Just like that of a Broadway Producer who puts the puzzle together to create art on stage. The award is shared in the slide show pictures, along with Jordan Scott Gilbert, in this breaking news of "The Official BroadwayGlobal Artist Steve Marshall".
Why one more award? Why do we want to recognize a BroadwayGlobal Producer? Because we hope that other investors for the arts may want to join in the fun, creating art for the stage, leaving their legacy to our society. What better piece of art to create than that of a play, a musical, a dance concert, a soloist concert.. arts that bring the globe together as one. The arts are the international language. When you look at the BroadwayGlobal award created by Steve Marshall you know what it means no matter what country you come from. The pieces of the puzzle showing music, sparkle, costume fabric, down to the money.. create gold for our society. Art is valuable.
