Longtime Tehachapi resident and owner of Wavesoftech, a Tehachapi-based enterprise information technology company, Steve Lee has given a voice to Tehachapi and the region with the "Tehachapi Mountain Voice," a new internet radio show and podcast heard on his NetcastStudio.com network.
"Tehachapi Mountain Voice" is slated to be a weekly show that brings you local events, meetings, information, recreational activities and news for the community of Tehachapi.
"People used to joke that I was the "Voice of Tehachapi," stated Lee, who is a veteran and one of the foremost broadcast technology experts in the country. "But now I'm just going with it and helping get the word out about what's going on in Tehachapi."
Recent episodes of "Tehachapi Mountain Voice" have covered the heath and resource fair, the T-Town Rumble Car Truck & Motorcycle Show, and where you can ballroom dance in the area.
The "Tehachapi Mountain Voice" is a labor of love for Lee, but he said it fits right in with what he is trying to do with his podcast and internet broadcast network.
"I've received quite a bit of positive feedback so far," adds Lee. "I think the community is embracing it."
Lee also thinks a show like this could be a model for other cities like Tehachapi that may not have a local television or radio station.
"There is a lot going on in Tehachapi, and this is just one way to get the word out."
Lee also said that auto manufacturers will be producing cars with the ability to get internet programming right in your car, so he feels he and his shows are positioned to take advantage of this pivot in the world of broadcasting.
For now, "The Voice of Tehachapi" is content to bring residents of of the Tehachapi Mountain region the latest news, sports, and events, but in the near future Lee is looking to take on CNN and Fox when it comes to covering breaking news and the latest technology.
