Former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Apple, Steve Jobs, has passed away at 56.
The board of directors of Apple released a statement, “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”
Microsoft's Bill Gates also released a statement, "The world may never see another Steve Jobs."
Jobs was suffering from pancreatic cancer for many years.
Jobs was known as a genius innovator and revolutionary who started Apple, along with Steve Wozniak, in 1976. Jobs used his innovative thinking to form the Apple brand we know today, which includes the iPhone, iPad, iTunes, and iPod.
Jobs recently resigned as Apple’s CEO in August of this year. However, this would not be the first time Jobs left Apple. In the 1980s, Job was ousted from the company, only to return to make Apple the most visionary and valuable company in the world.
In June of this year, Apple was valued at $28B. Jobs was anything but traditional. He would often make company presentations and attend meetings dressed in turtlenecks, jeans, and sneakers.
He made technology cool and definitely showed the world what it meant to overcome adversity. His legacy will continue to impact generations to come as the digital age progresses.
Jobs is survived by his wife of 20 years, Laurene, and four children.
