Traci D. Mitchell, health and fitness coach, appeared on the "Steve Harvey Show" on Thursday. She gave tips for getting rid of belly fat, also called visceral fat. Mitchell says belly fat is detrimental to our health because it has a direct impact on vital organs which adds unneeded stress on our bodies. People with belly fat are at increased risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke and some forms of cancers. Mitchell gave tips for diet, lifestyle and exercise before Harvey shared his recipe for getting rid of belly fat.
Diet. Mitchell advised people to cut back on refined sugar in their diet. It's not just white sugar, but fruit juices, too much fruit and refined carbs should also be limited. People think fat will make them fat. Mitchell said this isn’t true and besides that's a huge reason why people have in fact gained weight. Eating a good amount of healthy fat and protein would be beneficial. Healthy fats like eggs, coconut oil and nuts, along with protein, like fish, chicken and lean ground beef can help keep your blood sugar levels in check and make you feel fuller longer.
Lifestyle. Mitchell advised eliminating things that create unneeded stress in your life. She said "We can’t control everything, like a crying baby in the middle of the night or a busy work schedule, but we can control the extras." She suggested saying "No" to people and not to overextend yourself. Then she recommended getting enough sleep because it help with your metabolism. Getting seven to eight hours sleep a night would be ideal.
Exercise. Mitchell says engaging in vigorous exercise at least 30 minutes, three or four times a week is good. It will challenge your body and make your lungs and muscles work hard. She said workouts don’t have to be long to be effective. High intensity interval training and strength training are the best for weight loss.
After Mitchell finished her presentation, Harvey strongly recommended "Belly Fat Water." He insisted that the mixture works because he drinks it everyday, and he has seen a difference. He admitted he saw this on the Dr. Oz show.
Belly Fat Water Recipe
The recipe for "Belly Fat Water" is easy with only a few ingredients: Six cups of filtered water, one sliced cucumber, one sliced lemon, one tablespoon fresh grated ginger and three-fourth cup of mint leaves. Combine all the ingredients and let it sit over night, then drink it throughout the next day.
Mitchell agreed with Harvey that the ingredients are definitely good things to get you going. Ginger helps with digestion and will keep nausea at bay. Lemon helps to detoxify on a cellular level and pushes the gunk out. Mint helps reduce appetite and bloating of the belly. Cucumber also helps to detoxify the body, particularly through the liver and kidneys. This creates better fat metabolism.
