This has been a very rattling week on "General Hospital" with the possible announcement that Jason Morgan may be returning to Port Charles. Fans have been in an uproar because the picture used on-screen was of Steve Burton portraying Jason Morgan. When Burton left "General Hospital" and turned up on "The Young and the Restless" fans were heartbroken. According to a Feb. 5 report from SoapOpera Network, Steve Burton will not be returning to play Jason Morgan. In fact, Burton has already confirmed that he has re-signed his contract to continue playing Dylan on "The Young and the Restless."

Social media has been buzzing with the possibility of Jason Morgan returning. While die-hard fans will always miss Steve Burton, there is room for the roll to be filled if done properly. "General Hospital" has really done well with this story line, especially with Kimberly McCullough's exit. The history Jason and Robin have would definitely put her in the position to leave in an effort to save him. The rumors will be swirling for weeks, but at least the fact that Steve Burton will not return is pretty cut and dry. Billy Miller has been rumored to possibly have the job, but nothing has been confirmed.

Soap fans are a loyal bunch. After a character like Jason Morgan leaves many feel like there will be no one able to fill his shoes. Steve Burton has moved on and so should the fans. A recast is not a terrible idea and this may be something "General Hospital" needs to keep moving forward.
