Stern to replace Fallon?: End of the road for sure for Jay Leno?

Howard Stern to replace Fallon? That's the possibility reported at UPI.com on March 6, 2013. The 59-year-old "America's Got Talent" judge and satellite radio show personality may replace Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" if comedian Jimmy Fallon of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" takes over Leno's spot. Both Don Buchwald, Stern's agent, and NBC's Doug Vaughan declined to comment.

Will Jay Leno leave his show after the 2013-2014 season? Is Jimmy Fallon replacing Leno and Stern to replace Fallon? Although that's the rumor, it's a rumor that may not be off-base.

Reportedly, the main reason this may be the last season for Jay Leno is not based on the show's ratings, which happen to be good, but on the fact that NBC is struggling and that getting rid of Leno would mean they could use the less expensive Fallon, thus saving the network money. NBC laid off at least 20 people on its staff. In addition, Leno took a pay cut.

Allegedly, Leno's new salary is $27 to $30 million a year. According to Celebrity Net Worth, NBC’s "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" host has an annual salary of $5 million per year.
