Nobody tortures the citizens of Maine like Stephen King — even if the TV version of Maine is really a place like Wilmington, North Carolina.
"Under the Dome," King's epic novel about a mysterious dome that cuts off a small Maine town, is being turned into a 13-episode miniseries, expected to air this summer on CBS.
According to the Wilm on Film blog, "Under the Dome" will film in Wilmington, opening production offices at Hollywood East's EUE/Screen Gems Studio next week.
This won't be the first Stephen King adaptation shot in the area, either. "Firestarter," "Cat's Eye," "The Night Flier" and "Silver Bullet" were also filmed here.
NBC's "Revolution" also films in Wilmington. Jenna Dewan-Tatum was recently in the city shooting the Lifetime TV pilot "Witches of East End," which is set in fictional North Hampton, Long Island. "Safe Haven," the film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, was mostly shot in nearby Southport, N.C., but had Wilmington stand in for Boston for some scenes.
