Stephen King is a busy man. His new book, 'Joyland' is being released June 4, 2013, a remake of the movie 'Carrie' is in the works, and he's got many other items on his calendar, some of which are detailed here:
DR. SLEEP
The cover art for Stephen King’s upcoming book, "Dr. Sleep" has just been revealed. The book will be released by Scribner on September 24, 2013. "Dr. Sleep" features a mysterious, red smoky cover. The book revisits the character of Dan Torrance, first introduced at the Overlook Hotel in King’s classic book, “The Shining.” In a New Hampshire town, Dan meets Abra Stone, a tween with the power of ‘shining.’ The connection brings Dan’s issues with alcoholism and despair back to the surface. Dan must do battle to save Abra in a war of good and evil.
Following the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, King wrote an essay on the issue of gun violence in America, simply titled, "Guns." King is a gun owner who supports specific forms of gun control and wants to foster an open discussion on the issues of gun control. It can be purchased as an audio book at Audible.com or as a single at Amazon.com. All King’s proceeds from the sale of the book and audio will go to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
CBS is filming a series adaptation of King’s Book “Under the Dome.” The production is currently filming in Wilmington, North Carolina. The series is scheduled to premiere June 24. The show is produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and will have thirteen episodes detailing the lives of Chester’s Mill’s citizens struggling to survive under a mysterious dome keeping them isolated from the rest of the world. King was on hand for the first day of filming. The potential for additional seasons has been left open. Amazon has secured the exclusive on-line streaming rights for the first season.
