You'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't come across the "ice bucket challenge" that has been sweeping the internet and raising both funds and awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Odds are, by this point, you've seen someone, either a family member or a celebrity dump a bucket of ice water over their head and video tape it for all the internet to see.
Well, Stephen King himself was called on to take the challenge, and said call was answered in a video that was posted to YouTube and shared on his official Twitter feed as well as his Facebook fan page. It fits the formula. Honestly, it isn't anything you haven't seen, though it is still rather interesting to watch. After all, how often do you get to see a world renowned author have a bucket of ice water dumped on them?
As per the rules of the challenge, King got to pick others to follow in his footsteps and partake in the challenge themselves. For those curious, he challenged fellow author John Grisham. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that he just picked one person. You're allowed to call up to five others, I believe, and it seems like he has plenty of options to choose from.
He could have challenged his sons, Joe Hill and Owen King, "rival" author Dean Koontz, or fellow author, friend, and collaborator Peter Straub. Maybe they already did it? I don't know.
Missed opportunity aside, you do get to watch Stephen King have a bucket of ice water dumped on him and it is all for a good cause, so kudos and props to him on that front.
