Stephen King, arguably one of the world’s most popular authors, has finally decided to throw his hat in the Twitter ring. The prolific author has joined but according to a Dec. 6 post on Wonder Wall, fans shouldn’t expect him to be overly active there.
For those who want to follow his tweets, you can look him up at @StephenKing.
The best-selling author posted messages on his Facebook account, which he’s had for a while, that he had hoped to get the Twitter handle @StephenKingAuthor but the moniker was too long for Twitter guidelines. He finally took the plunge at the urging of his publisher Scribner. His assistant, Marsha DeFilippo assures us the account is authentic.
King has long been an outspoken proponent of e-books and digital innovations in general. He has been reluctant to engage on Twitter, preferring books instead to express himself. Fans have been warned that they won’t likely see much from him there. That being said, it took only 90 minutes from opening the account to King accumulating more than 30,000 followers.
What did the master of words have to say in his first tweet?
"My first tweet. No longer a virgin. Be gentle!"
