Jackson is a season removed from playing with the San Antonio Spurs before he was cut at the end of the season.
Jackson is the only member of the team with a championship ring which coach Doc Rivers hopes will bring a spark to the team, along with his gritty style of play.
"We need him like now and that's a guy that you can bring in and he can give you something right away with Reggie being out for at least this trip and maybe longer and Matt being out. We don't have another three right now and he fits that bill for us," said Rivers.
Jackson has averaged 15 points and 4 rebounds in his thirteen year career with various teams as the Hawks, Nets, Pacers, Spurs, Bucks, and Bobcats.
With Matt Barnes out due to a torn retina for another two weeks, along with Reggie Bullock who's out for the next few weeks with a high ankle sprain, the Clippers hope this acquisition will be a turn around solution to whirlwind problem.
Jackson brings a toughness and grit to this team that Rivers feels will be beneficial in the long run.
“The way the season ended last year I just wanted to get back and approach the game different this year and get back and do what I love to do and that’s play basketball. I’m just thankful that the Clippers gave me an opportunity," said Jackson.
Along with making a strong presence defensively on the floor, Jackson is just ready to play.
He will be available Wednesday night against the Celtics in Boston.
