According to the Calgary Stampeders website on Monday, Calgary Stampeders' radio play-by-play announcer Mark Stephen will be inducted to the media wing of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in Hamilton, Ontario.
Stephen has been the play-by-play voice of the Stampeders since 1996 for QR77. Stephen has been joined in the booth with former Calgary Stampeder defensive back Greg Peterson throughout that entire time period. The Stephen-Peterson duo has been the longest running broadcast tandem in Canadian Football League history.
Stephen is also a writer for the Canadian Football League website, and is the current sports director for QR77. Prior to his role in the CFL, Stephen was the public relations director for the Calgary Cannons of the Pacific Coast League.
Stephen will be officially honoured during the Grey Cup festivities on November 24 in Regina. Prior to the Stampeders victory at McMahon Stadium over the British Columbia Lions on Friday, Stephen was also recognized by the Stampeders' organization.
