Stephen Curry stars in new Foot Locker commercial

Fresh off his 54-point performance in a losing effort against the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry starred in a Foot Locker commercial as part of the sneaker retailer's "Approved Heat" promotion on Thursday (video).

The new commercial is actually part of a series of videos starring a character named Maurice, who was first introduced in a previous Foot Locker ad featuring James Harden and Kris Humphries. Desperate to move on to a new entourage, Maurice finds Curry's secret location and gives him the one-minute pitch as to why he would be a great addition to the crew.

While Curry isn't know in sneaker circles as rocking the most popular sneakers - he has mostly worn the Nike Hyperfuse line - his performance in New York could be the launching pad to new things for the young guard who has really emerged in his fourth season in the NBA.

The Foot Locker "Approved Heat" campaign began in February and will last until the end of March, with big name releases coming out on a weekly basis.
