Stephen Colbert to help sister with her congressional run

Funny man Stephen Colbert is best known for his show, "The Colbert Report" in which he shares the top political news with fans in a more comedic, and relatable way. On March 18 The Hollywood Reporter shares that Colbert is now willing to break his character and help his sister, Elizabeth Colbert-Busch in her congressional run.

This is something completely unheard of from Stephen Colbert, especially when you consider that he attempted to run for president and ended up raising over a million dollars for the cause. Stephen does have strong political ties that could be an asset to his sister as she runs for the vacant seat in the first district of South Carolina congress.

Stephen told CNN's Jake Tapper, "I'm not worried about what it would do to me or my show to try to help her as myself -- not as my character, to help her as myself. And you know, if people think that's not the right thing for me to do, I don't care. It's my sister, and I'm willing to help her."

Colbert says that Elizabeth is more than qualified as she has worked at the state's Clemson University for several years. Colbert says that he has met the people in congress that she would be working with and says that his sister, Elizabeth, would be a good fit.
